Name: Therese Nadeau

Profile:

Ms. Nadeau's winning on air personality is 50% of the hosting duo for
Able Lives and Able Lives Incorporated. She has honed her upbeat stage
presence by bringing the message of inclusion to children; touring with
her Service Dog "Sassy". She and Sassy are educating people about the
benefits and opportunities available through assistance animals for
people with disabilities. This message is delightfully told in the
children’s book “Sassy Goes to Work", which Therese and Sassy Dog wrote
together.

Ms. Nadeau's professional background includes working as an independent
living counselor, being a community organizing assistant/lobbyist
advocating for the need for funding of personal assistance services in
Connecticut, supervisory positions at United Cerebral Palsy of Greater
Hartford, program director for a non-profit housing organization,
research assistant for the University of Connecticut Center on
Disabilities, and her current position as Program Manager for the CT
Tech Act Project’s Assistive Technology Loan Program.  Ms. Nadeau
has significant experience in working with people with various
disabilities and their families to plan for supports and options with
regards to inclusion in communities of choice.

In addition to her work experience, Ms. Nadeau conducts
presentations statewide and nationally with regards to supports for
people with disabilities. Most recently Ms. Nadeau has been involved in
Disaster Preparedness for People with Disabilities on a statewide and
national level working with first responders and other emergency
planners to evaluate the needs of people with disabilities in shelter
and evacuation planning, awareness and training.
