Cinda LautenschlegarCinda is one of those people whose work and personal life are
inseparable. Since childhood she has been passionate about protecting
animals and their dwindling environment. At the Department of
Environmental Protection she monitors companies to make sure they
follow pollution law to the full extent. In her spare time she collects
kitties who have been abandoned and finds them homes. She says she isn't
a hero, but to her animals and to the people who breathe the air in
Connecticut she is.
Dr. Mary Siegel is an expert on the challenges faced by people with
hidden disabilities because she lived through the experience. A
ballerina, Mary began to notice changes in her body which were the
early signs of MS, but it took years for her to receive a diagnosis.
She tells us that people with invisible illnesses are more likely to
experience difficulty with diagnosis, treatment, and adjustments at
work. Mary had to reinvent her career. She received a Ph.D. and has written Sick and Tired of Feeling Sick and Tired one of the leading books on hidden disability. Mary's Book
